REDWOOD is a narrative mystery-thriller game currently in development in Unreal Engine 5.
This environment represents the villa’s courtyard, a place meant to feel ordinary at first glance, yet subtly unsettling.
The player arrives shortly, with small environmental clues suggesting that someone was here… just moments before.
My goal with this project is to blend cinematic storytelling and real-time rendering, using lighting and composition to communicate narrative without explicit exposition.
I personally handled both the artistic direction and the technical implementation of the project.
The house is not just a background, but a narrative element: every room, prop placement, and lighting choice is intended to suggest past events and guide the player’s perception and emotions during exploration.
Special attention was given to lighting and atmosphere. The project relies heavily on physically-based rendering, real-world lighting references, and Unreal Engine’s global illumination to achieve a grounded and cinematic mood.
This environment will serve as the core exploration space of the game, where the player slowly uncovers hidden details, memories, and clues connected to the story.
At the time of this publication, the project is still in development, and this is an early look at the visual and narrative direction of the game.
